My name is Dylan and Manji and I love watching Shark Tank pitches. This week I decided I want to learn how to create entertaining and persuasive pitches of my own. Keep reading to see how it went...
My Process:
I started off by working with my Startup Dojo coach to brainstorm ideas on how I could pitch… MYSELF :) It felt uncomfortable at the beginning because I had never done it before. We worked together to analyze other pitches, and figure out how to design the best possible pitch. Then we made an awesome script, and practiced presenting. It felt really weird when I was first presenting, but as I practiced more and more, I got better and better. I eventually felt confident enough to pitch new ideas on the spot about my future inventions.
Conclusion:
Through this experience, I learned a tonne. I cannot wait to show up my pitching skills on Shark Tank one day (soon). Here are my key takeaways:
Don’t overload the crowd with information and random facts.
Make it entertaining. Crack jokes and laugh!
Be yourself and have fun with it. Be loud, be big. If you are having a good time pitching, your audience will too.
