Wanna learn something? Well I did!
I learned that it takes 10,000 hours to be an expert in your field. But it takes only 20 hours to learn a new skill (aka become reasonably good).
How do you do it? Well, here are some steps that Josh Kaufman talks about in his TED Talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MgBikgcWnY ↓
Steps:
Deconstruct the skill
What do i want to learn
What are the most important things that i need to do to get there
Learn enough to self correct
Get 3-4 good resources that you can use to get a basic understanding
Remove practice barriers
Remove distractions
Don't procrastinate
Learn just enough to be able to practice
Commit to practicing at least 20 hours
Understand that you will be frustrated at the beginning. Commit to getting in the practice regardless
Now that i learned this i’m going to try this out, one thing that i’ve wanted to learn is how to do magic tricks, most specifically, the coin trick, making a coin disappear, so now i'm going to try and spend 20 hours on practicing this trick. Try this yourself!
